All teachers are fully qualified and exams can be taken from as early as Primary Starts. Classes start
for children aged from 2 years through to 18+ years of age. The school’s curriculum concentrates on
Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary Dance. Classes are a
combination of syllabus work as set by the awarding bodies; Royal Academy of Dance (RAD),
Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA)
and ‘free’ work. Emphasis is not only placed on securing a strong foundation of technical accuracy
but also on performance; it is essential that classwork encourages artistry and enjoyment.
Footsies Dance Centre is proud to have achieved 100% examination success with each of the
awarding bodies graded and vocational dance syllabi. Examinations can start from a young age,
provided that the young dancer is ready and secure enough in their understanding of what is
expected of them. Although examinations are encouraged, they are not mandatory for a child to
progress through the levels within the school.
Classical Ballet classes and examinations follow the RAD and IDTA syllabi
Modern Theatre and Jazz Dance classes and examinations follow the ISTD syllabi
Tap Dance classes and examinations follow the ISTD and IDTA syllabi.
Our young children start with Rosettes and class team awards as an introduction to working towards
achieving the skills and expectations that are required to succeed in examinations.
